Weather

The weather in Lawrence in October is mild, with an average high in the 70's Fahrenheit (around 21 degrees Celsius) and an average low in the mid 40's Fahrenheit (around 4 degrees Celsius).

Parking

The conference will be held on campus in 120 Snow Hall. Campus parking is available behind Snow Hall and nearby parking lots. You must have a parking permit on Friday but parking is open and free on Saturday. There are two parking garages, each about a 10-minute walk from Snow Hall. More information about parking can be found at KU Parking. Bus service is available every day except Sunday between campus and downtown. Be sure to check the bus schedule for the dates you will be here.

Wi-Fi

KU offers a guest wireless network, KUGUEST. You can access this though your wireless devices by selecting KUGUEST from your network control panel. KU is also a member of the eduroam network. If you are visiting from another eduroam institution you can use your eduroam login. Please consult your technical department for eduroam setup instructions before leaving your institution.

KU Museums

The University of Kansas has two excellent museums: a Natural History Museum, and the Spencer Art Museum.

Lawrence

Lawrence also has a widely-known music scene, with a number of clubs downtown, various folk music venues around town, and several concert halls.

Traveling to Lawrence

If you are driving, Lawrence is just off I-70, about 30 miles east of Topeka and about 50 miles west of Kansas City, MO.

If you are flying, the airport is Kansas City International (MCI). From there you can rent a car or take a shuttle. We are about an hour away from the airport.

Parking on campus is unrestricted on Saturday and Sunday except at accessible parking spaces, parking garages and meters (There is a fee at the parking garages and you must still feed the meters.).

On Saturdays there is a public bus service.
